If you’d like me to publish your articles, videos or photos on Love Snowdonia, in the interests of quality control I ask that you follow these guidelines before submitting your content. Any articles which include content that blatantly ignores these guidelines will, I’m afraid, be rejected – so please read this page carefully before you send anything in.
Language
You can submit your content in either English or Welsh, or both.
Please do not use any rude words in your article – this website is family-friendly and while I’m not at all offended by swearing, many of the website’s visitors will be, so please keep it clean.
Spelling and grammar
Please try to ensure your spelling and grammar are correct before submitting your article. If parts of your article read very badly, I reserve the right to rewrite them, without consulting or notifying you. When you submit an article for inclusion in Love Snowdonia’s magazine, you agree to this. If you hate the way I’ve rewritten your article, you can ask to have it removed and I will do this for you.
If you are very concerned about your writing skills, or don’t have the time to write your own articles, you may be interested in my copywriting services. If you decide to hire me to write articles for you, which can be used on this website in the first instance but on your own blog after a few days, if you wish, I will do this at the vastly discounted price of £30 per article. This will be an article of 300-400 words in length, and will include your author’s biography which will of course include optimised backlinks to your website.
Subject matter
Your article MUST be about Snowdonia. It can include things you’ve done in Snowdonia, things you wish you’d done in Snowdonia, things you love about Snowdonia, places you like to visit in Snowdonia, your favourite Snowdonia attractions, reviews of Snowdonia pubs/restaurants/hotels – and so on.
You may NOT submit an article which promotes or reviews your own business. You will have an opportunity to promote your business in your author’s biography, including backlinks. If I deem your article to be self-promotional I will reject it.
Keep it clean. No mucky subjects, please. I will reject articles about where to go dogging, or the best lap dancing clubs, or where to go on the pull.
Anglesey isn’t in Snowdonia. Neither is Wrexham, or Cardiff, or Rhyl. Please make sure your article is about Snowdonia. It’s generally accepted that Snowdonia stretches from roughly Machynlleth in the South to Conwy in the North, so please try to stay within the boundaries of the Snowdonia Mountains and Coast region in your articles.
Exclusivity
I ask that you only send in unique, exclusive articles that haven’t been published anywhere else before (I will use online copy comparison tools to check that your article is unique). This is because I want to make sure that Love Snowdonia provides visitors with information they haven’t already seen somewhere else, and I don’t want Google to penalise this website for publishing what it considers to be ‘duplicate’ content. If I publish your article on Love Snowdonia and it’s something that you also want to publish on your own blog, I ask that you wait a few days after the Love Snowdonia version of the article has gone live before you upload the article to your own blog (or make significant changes to the article text if you prefer).
Links
You can link to any businesses or attractions that you mention in your article – this is a good thing to do, because it’s useful to readers. However, you may NOT link to your own website, or social media profile, or blog, apart from in the author’s biography.
When linking to your website/blog in your author’s biography, you may use up to two (2) links, but they must both point to different pages. For example, if you sell cheap trainers a link with the anchor text “cheap trainers” could point to your home page, and a second link with the anchor text “Nike trainers for ladies” could point to the “Nike trainers for ladies” category page.
Use your links wisely, because they can help to improve your website’s search engine results positions (this is why I offer free backlinks in exchange for your content – because it’s a really nice way to say ‘thank you’ for your contribution).
Article length
Your article should be at least 200 words long, but there’s no upper limit – so an article of 2,000 words is fine, as long as it’s interesting. I’ll let you be the judge of how long your article should be, as long as it’s more than 200 words.
Author’s biography
Try to make your author’s biography useful and interesting – it’s your opportunity to sell yourself! “Joan Smith owns Seaview Cottage, a charming 3-bedroomed 18th century holiday letting cottage on the seafront at beautiful Aberdyfi” will do you a lot more favours than “written by Joan Smith at Seaview Cottage” – so don’t waste this opportunity to persuade Love Snowdonia’s readers to visit your website!
Attitude
I will reject any articles that show an overly negative attitude towards Snowdonia, or towards its people or businesses. This website is called ‘Love Snowdonia’ for a reason – if you want to moan, do it at TripAdvisor. We’re here to share the love, remember? :)
